Description:
U.S. Rubber Company's Keds Sports Department produced a series of multi-sport bulletins in the 1940s. Basketball for Coaches and Players was written by Everett Dean (Stanford University) and Bill Anderson, coach of Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA. The book has a code on the back cover that suggests that it was published in 1943. The Journal of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation confirms this time frame. However, Boys Life Magazine was still advertising and displaying this booklet in January 1945. These were given away for free. Frank Leahy, who was the football coach of Notre Dame during two different periods of the 1940s served as the head of the Keds Sports Department and is referenced in the bulletins.
