The 1975 Carvel NBA Basketball Discs set contains 36 unnumbered discs measuring approximately 3 3/8" in diameter. The blank-backed discs come in five different colors (blue, green, yellow, orange, and pink), and feature black and white drawings of the players with facsimile signatures. Although I have never seen one, a poster was apparently produced which provided circular places for each of the 36 discs. The discs are unnumbered. The set is dated by the fact that 1974-75 was Happy Hairston and Chet Walker's last active year in the NBA.
Similar to other MSA discs, Carvel discs contain portrait artwork by Charles Linnett. However, unlike other discs, the NBA Players Association logo is not shown, nor is the artist's signature. It is highly likely that Carvel worked with MSA (Mike Schechter Associates, Inc.) to have these discs made. MSA produced a variety of sports discs, many using Gugler Lithographic Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
