Description:
This is one of the coolest booklets I own. Basketball - The Rules as played by the Eastern League of Professional Basketball Teams. Also, Fundamentals of Basketball as written by James Naismith. This book provides some great information on one of the premier teams of the time - the SPHAS. The acronym "SPHA" was originally an acronym, derived from South Philadelphia Hebrew Association, and the team's players were primarily Jewish. This team was at one time part of the ABL. Another famous team, The Renaissance were also pictures in this booklet. The book was published by Passon, named after Chick Passon. Passon had been a player in the Eastern League in the mid 1920s and now was serving as an "Athletic Advisor" for sports teams around Philadelphia. The description of his job sounded a lot like he was a sports agent. However, Passon, the company, did produce sporting goods and related items for professional, school, church team, industrial organizations, and independent teams.
